About Us

Learn the History and Growth of Our Church

We started as a mission church sent by the Chinese Baptist Church of Orange County (CBCOC) in Anaheim to reach more Cantonese-speaking Chinese in the southern parts of Orange County. From beginning as a humble place of worship to having the biggest community of Chinese-American believers, the growth of our church would not have been possible without the grace of our Lord.

Worship Services

Chinese Baptist Church of Central Orange County (CBCCOC) is a family church with services and programs that meet the needs of Chinese-Americans. We cater to believers of varying ages, from the children and youth to the elderly, and in Chinese and English languages. Our church has five worship services every Sunday:

To accommodate to all ages in all three languages, we also offer Sunday School classes and fellowships that meet on various days of the week.

Sunday School Ministry

The purpose of Sunday school at CBCCOC is to instruct Christians in the inspired word of God, the Bible. Our goal is to be systematic as well as comprehensive in our teaching of the Bible so that our students will develop an overall understanding of the Bible from the Old Testament to the New Testaments. CBCCOC strives to achieve the goal that “every regular attendee of a worship service is either a student or a teacher in Sunday School.” Sunday School is held every Sunday. Adult classes are held in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. Children and youth classes (pre-school to 12th grade) are held in English. Special programs include Bible Drill (4th to 9th grade) and Vacation Bible School.

The Establishment of Our Church

CBCOC was led to vision in January 1991, following its annual church planning conference. In April of 1992, the Church on Red Hill in Tustin, California offered to host this mission church. Rev. James Chiu who founded CBCOC, as well as the senior pastor at that time, volunteered to become pastors of our mission church.

Starting the Mission Church

In an open forum in May 1992, a motion was made to start a mission church in Tustin, California. Within two months, CBCOC members approved it to be held at the site of the Church on Red Hill. Pastor Chiu becomes the mission church pastor along with 10 families from CBCOC. On January 3, 1993, at the Tustin, California site, Pastor Chiu led 120 people to worship the Lord for the first time as a mission church of CBCOC.

Recognizing Our Independence

In July 1993, the mission church became the Chinese Baptist Church of Central Orange County (CBCCOC) and is operationally independent of CBCOC, the Anaheim mother church.

Our Facility

God provided and allowed us to build for His glory. In May of 2000, after renting the facility in Tustin, California for more than 7 years, we moved into our own facility in Irvine, California. we completed the second phase of our facility in January 2003 to meet expected growth in the coming years. Finally, in July 2013, we completed the final phase of our church campus. The sanctuary was finished and dedicated to God's glory.
