Minister Doris Shin - Minister of Music & Worship
Born and raised as a Pastor’s kid in Hong Kong, Doris Shin has a passion to serve God and spread the gospel with the music gift bestowed in her. In January of 1993 Doris accepted the position as Music / Worship Minister at CBCCOC under our senior and founding Pastor, Dr. James Chiu. Besides leading worship and directing the mixed voice choir, she also conducts the women’s chorus, men’s chorus and the youth Christmas choir. In this ministry capacity, Doris organizes and directs our annual Christmas Program, enabling the music of well-known composers and the harmony of over hundred adult, youth and children voices alongside with the instrumental, drama, dance groups to tell the story of Jesus’ birth and bring the message of salvation to our community.Read more
Minister Ruby - Children Minister
Minister Ruby was born and raised in Hong Kong. She became a Christian in her high school year! Since then, she was growing in faith in the Bethlehem Church of Hope Mission and serving actively in the youth ministry. While she was in her post-graduate study in Melbourne, Australia, God has impressed in her heart through Romans 10:15 that "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" She prayed to God to devote her life to serve HIM full time as a minister of His Gospel in 1992.Read more
Minister Jason Yim - Cantonese and Bilingual Minister
Minister Jason has committed his life to share the gospel and minister to God’s people. He especially has a passion to work with college students and young professionals. He hopes to help young people build solid foundation of faith and establish their identities, values and mission in the Lord. He has been serving and leading the Living Stone Fellowship, the Cantonese college fellowship of CBCCOC for 9 years.Read more
Minister Martin Chan - Cantonese and Bilingual Minister
Minister Martin Chan was born and raised in Hong Kong. Coming from a non-religious family, yet he was enrolled to a Christian school from kindergarten to high school. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior in a summer camp when he was in 7th grade. In 1993 he started attending Chinese Baptist Church of Central Orange County (CBCCOC) and he was baptized by Rev. James Chiu in December of the same year.Read more
Minister Margaret Liu - Mandarin Minister
Minister Margaret Liu was born in Taiwan. She came to the U.S. for her graduate study and proceeded with a career in the field of ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) Management Information Systems. She joined CBCCOC as a congregant in 2001. In 2010, after she was called for full time ministry, she started part-time seminary work at Logos Evangelical Seminary to finish a 3-course Systemic Theology.Read more
Reverend Dr. James Chiu - Founding and Late Senior Pastor
CBCCOC served in a full-time capacity by Pastor Dr. James Chiu. Pastor Chiu was born in Swatow, China. His mother became the first Christian in their village. Fleeing from persecution for their Christian faith, Pastor Chiu and his family moved to Hong Kong. He became a Christian as youth and was called into the ministry. Dr. Chiu spent many years in preparation for the ministry.
He married Minnie Cheung, who prepared to be a missionary nurse before they met. She helped Dr. Chiu through his years of studies, from 1968 to 1972, by working as a full time nurse. They started our mother church, Chinese Baptist Church of Orange County, in April 1974 and founded our church (CBCCOC) in 1993. In 2007 Dr. James Chiu officially retired, and on ocassion continues to preach by invitation.
He loves to go fishing in his free time and enjoy visiting with his grandchildren.
On May 31, 2015, Pastor Chiu went home to be with the Lord. He will always be remember as our founding pastor.
