Minister Doris Shin
Born and raised as a Pastor’s kid in Hong Kong, Doris Shin has a passion to serve God and spread the gospel with the music gift bestowed in her. In January of 1993 Doris accepted the position as Music / Worship Minister at CBCCOC under our senior and founding Pastor, Dr. James Chiu. Besides leading worship and directing the mixed voice choir, she also conducts the women’s chorus, men’s chorus and the youth Christmas choir. In this ministry capacity, Doris organizes and directs our annual Christmas Program, enabling the music of well-known composers and the harmony of over hundred adult, youth and children voices alongside with the instrumental, drama, dance groups to tell the story of Jesus’ birth and bring the message of salvation to our community.
Doris earned her Degree of Fine Arts in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University in 1976, her Teacher Credential from Northcote College of Education in 1984, and her Performance Diploma of Solo Singing from Trinity College of Music, London in 1985. Before migrated to the US, She taught in Maryknoll Sisters’ Secondary School for 11 years. Under her leading, the school choir had won many major awards in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival during those years. After residing in Irvine 1987, she has been teaching piano and voice lessons, and remains an active member of the California Music Teachers Association. She has a passion for lost souls and desire to minister through song and worship. Doris is married to Tony Shin. They have a son, Putnam who is working overseas currently.
